PURPOSE: To improve the durability and life of the floating type magnetic head device by consisting the slider of the device of Mn-Zn nonmagnetic ferrite contg. ZnO at specific % or above.
CONSTITUTION: Rails are worked on one main surface of the slider 1 and a groove 5 is formed. Slider rails 6, 7 are formed as projecting parts on both sides of the groove 5. Further, one flank 6b at which the thin-film magnetic head 8 intersects orthogonally with the magnetic disk-facing surface 6a of the one rail 6 is provided so that a magnetic gap faces the disk 4-facing surface 6a. The surface of the disk 4 and the rail 6, 7-facing surfaces 6a, 7a of the slider 1 slide. Since the slider 1 consists of the Mn-Zn nonmagnetic ferrite contg. 32mol% ZnO, the slider 1 does not chip off the carbon protective film of the disk 4 and the friction of the slider 1 and the disk 4 is decreased during the sliding of the disk 4 and the slider 1.
