PURPOSE: To provide the floating type magnetic head which is decreased in inductance and is lowered in the peak shift of reproduced output.
CONSTITUTION: An I-shaped core 15 is respectively provided with rails 16, 17, 18 for floating atop the core and a C-shaped core 23 is joined to the end face 22 on the air outflow side of the rail 17. The end face 24 of this C-shaped core 23 is provided with a groove 25 which constitutes a winding window. A magnetic gap 27 joined with glass 26 is disposed via a gap forming material between the end face 22 on the air outflow side of the rail 17 and the end face 24 of the C-shaped core 23. Further, both flanks of the C-shaped core 23 are respectively provided with recessed parts 28 in the direction perpendicular to the medium-facing surface. These recessed parts 28 are respectively provided with glass 29. Windings 30 are wound on the groove 25 of such C-shaped core 23 and the glass 29.
