Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently oxidize the manganese in sludge with a smaller floor space by adding an oxidizing agent to the sludge on its return way to oxidize chemically and reform the sludge and then adding an acid to ionize the floc of an inorg. metallic flocculant.
SOLUTION: The raw water from a raw water inlet pipe 1 and an inorg. metallic flocculant of a flocculant storage tank 16 are agitated and mixed in an agitated tank 2 to coagulate and flocculate the suspended matter in the raw water. The flocs are settled at the bottom of a flocculating and settling tank 3 and sent to a concentrated/ flocculated sludge treating device 17 through a flocculated sludge concentrating tank 5, and the excess sludge is dehydrated in the device 17 and discarded. Meanwhile, a part of the sludge is set to an aeration tank 8, aerated by the air injected from a diffusing pipe 91 at the bottom of the tank and introduced into a tightly-closed ozone reaction tank 102. The sludge is aerated by the ozone from an ozonizer 103, sent through a intermediate tank 105 to an agitation device 13 to admix with an acid from an acid storage tank 12 and, hence the inorg. metallic flocculant in the sludge is ionized, and then the sludge is returned to the agitated tank 2. Consequently, manganese, etc., are oxidized, and the org. material as a trihalomethane-causing source is oxidized and decomposed.
