To perform flocculating and settling treatment at high speed and stably while making the whole equipment compact and also to improve solid- water separation efficiency.
The equipment main body is made to have double tank structure consisting of an inner tank 1 and an outer tank 2 communicating with each other at a bottom part 6, and an agitating tank 1 and a separating tank 2 are formed on the inner tank side and on the outer tank side respectively. A raw water feeding part 9, a discharge part 8 for treated water after the separating solid matter and a discharge part 11 for sludge in which solid matter or the like are flocculated and settled are installed in the upper part of the inner tank 1 functioning as the agitating tank 2, on the upper end side of the outer tank 2 functioning as the agitating tank and in the bottom part 6 of the device body respectively. Raw water is fed from above the agitating tank 1, and the raw water and the solid matter or the like in the agitating tank 1 are transferred as a downflow, and its direction is made to coincide with the one in which the flocculation of the solid matter or the like gradually proceeds in the agitating tank 1.
