PURPOSE: A novel floor polishing agent, capable of imparting improved gloss and nonslip properties to a floor, and consisting of an aqueous polymer dispersion obtained by polymerizing a monoethylenic monomer in the presence of a copolymer which has a specific carboxyl group and is soluble in an aqueous alkali as an emulsifying and dispersing agent as a main constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A floor polishing agent of an aqueous polymer dispersion prepared by polymerizing (B) 100pts.wt. a monoethylenic monomer, e.g. ethyl acrylate, in the presence of (A) 20W80pts.wt. (calculated as the solid content) an alkaline aqueous solution of a copolymer having COOH groups obtained by solution polymerization of 5W30wt% a conjugated diene monomer, 10W25wt% (meth)acrylic acid, 5W40wt% styrene and 5W80wt% a 2W8C alkyl ester of acrylic acid in a 1W4C saturated monohydric alcohol as an emulsifying and dispersing agent under such conditions as to give a PH≥7 and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of the formed polymer in the sange of 20W105°C. The copolymer (A) has a Tg of 10W 100°C and an intrinsic viscosity ≤ 0.3dl/g in THF at 30°C.
EFFECT: Irremovable by a detergent and water but easily removable by an alkaline aqueous cleaner.
