To provide a method of maintaining a floor surface of a floor structure which reduces labor and an environmental load such as waste water, and is carried out in a simple manner without requiring a special device.
The floor structure has a specific base coat film formed thereon, and a top coat film formed on the base coat film by applying a top coat composition and drying the same. To implement the maintenance of the floor surface of the floor structure, steps including following ones are carried out depending on the degree of abrasion of the floor surface formed of the top coat film. In a first step, the worn-out top coat film is washed and separated from the base coat film with a detergent which contains free alkali of 1.5 mass % or less on a sodium hydroxide basis measured according to a JIS K-3304 "soap test method" 2.1 (5). In a second step, the top coat composition is applied to the base coat film and dried, to thereby re-forming the top coat film.
