PURPOSE: To inspect an electric characteristics and to clean a head in a bundle by forming tracks for electric characteristic inspection and a track for head cleaning.

CONSTITUTION: A track 11a for electric characteristic inspection, track 12 for head cleaning, and a track 11b for electric characteristic inspection are formed concentrically on the same surface of a floppy disk (medium) 10 in order from the outer periphery to the inner periphery. This medium 10 is loaded on a floppy disk device body and then the magnetic head (not shown in figure) attains inward access from the outermost periphery of the disk. Therefore, electric characteristics are inspected on the basis of the contents of the track 11a for electric characteristic inspection firstly, dirt sticking on the surface of the magnetic head is removed on the track 12 for head cleaning, and electric characteristic inspection is performed on the basis of the contents of the track 11b for electric characteristic inspection lastly. Thus, the medium 10 is only set and the electric characteristic inspection and magnetic head cleaning are carried out in a bundle.
