Abstract:
To provide flow drill screw which can form a female screw at comparatively low torque.SOLUTION: A flow drill screw 1 is constituted of a head part 20, a screw part continuously formed at the head part, and having a screw thread at an external periphery, and a drill part which is continuously formed at the screw part, and formed into a gimlet shape at a tip. The screw part is constituted of a circular screw part 31 continuously formed at the head part, and a non-circular screw part 33 which continues to the circular screw part, and continuously formed at the drill part. The non-circular part is constituted so as to form a substantially-polygonal shape having roundness at a cross section orthogonal to an axial line. Here, it is preferable that a dimension of the circular screw part in an axial direction is longer than a dimension of a workpiece in a thickness direction, and the drill part is applied with hardening treatment. Also, it is preferable that the screw part comprises an incomplete screw thread at the screw thread formed at its external periphery, and is applied with hardening treatment.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
