Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a mammalian organism suffering from a neoplastic disease by expression of Flt4 receptor tyrosine kinase (Flt4) in endothelial cells of blood vessels adjacent to a malignant neoplasm.SOLUTION: The present invention provide purified Flt4 receptor tyrosine kinase polypeptides and fragments thereof, polynucleotides encoding the polypeptides, antibodies that specifically bind the polypeptides, and methods of use therefor. Also provided is a method of inhibiting the binding of Flt4 ligand proteins to Flt4 expressed in Flt expressed endothelial cells in blood vessels adjacent to a malignant neoplasm.
