To provide a fluid brake device which prevents fluctuation in braking characteristics.
A brake rotor 130 includes a brake shaft 131 which penetrates to the outside of a cabinet from the inside of the cabinet in an axial direction. A magnetic flux guide 174 provided in the cabinet 110 forms a seal space part 114c as a part of a fluid space 114, in a space formed with the brake shaft 131 on an inner peripheral side. The brake shaft 131 includes: a large-diameter outer peripheral surface 182 which is exposed to a gap-like space part 114a, provided axially inside the seal space part 114c of the fluid space 114; a small-diameter outer peripheral surface 183 which is formed to have a smaller diameter than the large-diameter outer peripheral surface 182, and which is exposed to a volume space part 114e formed axially outside the seal space part 114c of the fluid space 114; and a communication passage 186 which is opened on the large-diameter and small-diameter outer peripheral surfaces 182 and 183 to connect the space parts 114a and 114e with each other.
