PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid compsn. which contains an ammonia refrigerant and a specific lubricant compsn., is excellent in miscibility, solubility, and non- polluting properties, and is useful for heat pumps, refrigeration compressors, etc.
SOLUTION: This fluid compsn. contains (A) an ammonia refrigerant and (B) a lubricant compsn. comprising a polyalkylene glycol of the formula (wherein Z is a residue of a compd. having 1-8 active hydrogens and the minium number of carbon atoms of 6 where Z is an aryl and the minimum number of carbon atoms of 10 where Z is an alkyl; R1 is H, methyl, or ethyl; n is 0 or a positive number; m is a positive number; and p is an integer having a value equal to the number of active hydrogens of Z) which has a mol.wt. of 400-2,000 and is prepd. by reacting an org. oxide selected from among ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, and butylene oxide with an alcohol such as benzyl alcohol or octylphenol. The viscosity of the fluid compsn. is pref. 25-150 cSt at 40°C.
