Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of lubricating a mechanical device.SOLUTION: The invention relates to methods of lubricating a mechanical device by using a low-sulfur lubricating composition that contains a friction modifier and supplies improved anti-wear performance. The invention further provides the lubricating composition used therein. The invention provides a method for lubricating a mechanical device requiring industrial fluids, hydraulic fluids, turbine oils, circulating oils, or combinations thereof. In the method, (I) the mechanical device is supplied with a lubricating composition composed of (a) an oil with lubricating viscosity and substantially free of sulfur, and (b) a friction modifier; and the method comprises a step of yielding reduced wear, reduced friction, or combinations thereof within the device.SELECTED DRAWING: None
