Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable to make torque capacity coefficient larger by a method wherein the cross-sectional form of a shell in the meridional plane of a pump impeller and a turbine runner is determined so as to make the radius ratio of a fluid coupling smaller. CONSTITUTION:In a fluid coupling, a flat core ring P is assumed to the working fluid path and both the areas of fluid paths formed by respectively taking the points C and B, which are respectively on the outer periphery and inner periphery of the flat core ring P as the center of the fluid path, are equal to each other in order to obtain external form loci 11 and 10. A shell form is the meridional plane of a pump impeller 1 and a turbine runner 2 is determined by the external form loci 11 and 10 and the lines connecting between said loci 11 and 10. Consequently, the torque capacity coefficient can be made larger by making the radius ratio larger, even the nominal diameter of fluid coupling remains the same.
