Title:
FLUID OPERATED TORQUE TRANSMITTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2711232
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a torque transmitting device capable of controlling the overlap between the clutch/brake exchange.
CONSTITUTION: A speed ratio in a planetary gear set is controlled by mounting a pair of selectively operatable torque transmitting devices 12, 14 such as a clutch and a brake. One device, the clutch, is spring engaged to provide one speed ratio in the planetary gear set, and disengaged by the fluid pressure by means of a selectively operatable piston assembly 42. The other device, the brake 14, is engaged with the piston assembly by the fluid pressure, and establishes another speed ratio in the planetary gear set. A torque responsive mechanism 50 is incorporated in the piston assembly to control the overlap between the clutch/brake exchange during a ratio interchange.
