To provide a fluid pressure drive device having a simple structure and improved reliability.

The fluid pressure drive device comprises an operating cylinder with an operating piston 3 for driving a driven body 1, a working fluid supply source 40 communicating with the operating cylinder via a flow passage and driving the operating piston, a supply valve 13 mounted in the flow passage connecting the working fluid supply source and the operating cylinder, and a discharge valve 15 discharging working fluid supplied to the operating cylinder at a given time. A flow regulating means 31 is provided in the flow passage connecting the working fluid supply source and the supply valve and can open and close the flow passage according to a pressure of the working fluid. The supply valve and the discharge valve are disposed opposite to each other in the flow passage communicating with one chamber of the operating cylinder with both valve stem members 13c, 15c abutting each other. The supply valve and the discharge valve are so constructed that when one of them is closed, the other is opened and when one of them is opened the other is closed.
