PURPOSE: To provide a fluid pressure supply device for a transmission, having a flow control valve for restraining the discharge flow rate of a pump in a high flow rate range or a high speed range of the pump so as to prevent insufficiency of the discharge rate of the pump at a return flow rate in the high flow rate range.

CONSTITUTION: In a first arrangement, a restrictor element (g) is provided in a return passage (e) through which oil is returned into a pump suction passage (a) from a flow control valve (f), at a position downstream of a valve. In a second mechanism, an inclined surface which is laid along the flow direction of hydraulic oil returned from the inside of a spool in the free control valve (f) is formed in the inner surface of a hole formed in the cylindrical surface of a free control valve (f).
