To efficiently cool a stator and reduce thrust propulsion force acting on a rotor and an impeller in a direction reverse to a fluid flow-in direction.
Since this invented water pump 10 can regulate flow F of fluid from a pump chamber 42 to a gap between a rotor 14 and a stator 16 by an overlap part 17, pressure P1 of fluid in a radial direction outer position in the pump chamber 42 can be maintained higher than pressure P2 of fluid in the gap between the rotor 14 and the stator 16. Consequently, thrust propulsion force acting on the rotor 14 and the impeller 22 in the direction reverse to fluid flow-in direction can be reduced. Also, flow F of fluid circulating from the pump chamber 42 to the gap between the rotor 16 and the stator 16 can be continuously formed by pressure difference between the radial direction outer position and the gap between the rotor 14 and the stator 16, the stator 16 can be efficiently cooled.
