This fluid for the traction drive contains a silicone compound expressed by following general formula (1): R1aR2bSiO(4-a-b)/2 [wherein, (a), (b) are each 0.01≤a≤2.5, 0.01≤b≤2.5 and 0.05<a+b<3.0; R1's are the same or different kinds selected from a 1-30C monovalent hydrocarbon group of an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, an aryl or an aralkyl, or a fluorine-substituted alkyl obtained by substituting a part of hydrogen atoms with fluorine; R2 is a substituent having a siloxy unit expressed by following general formula (2) (wherein, R1 in the formula (2) is the same as the R1 in the formula (1)); and (c), (d) are each 2≤c≤5, 0≤d≤100].
