This lockup device 5 has a clutch mechanism 6, a damper mechanism 7 and a friction generating mechanism 4. The friction generating mechanism 4 has a friction generating piston 41, a friction generating hydraulic chamber 42, a friction generating end plate 45 and at least one friction generating friction disc 44. The friction generating piston 41 is relatively movably supported in the axial direction by a front cover 2. The friction generating hydraulic chamber 42 is formed between the front cover 2 and the friction generating piston 41. The friction generating end plate 45 is arranged on the opposite side of the friction generating hydraulic chamber 42 in the axial direction of the friction generating piston 41, and is integrally rotatably supported by the front cover 2. The friction generating friction disc 44 is arranged between the friction generating piston 41 and the friction generating end plate 45, and is integrally rotatably and relatively movably supported in the axial direction by a turbine 10.
