Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluidically integrated rotary bead beater.SOLUTION: A system for at least one of homogenization and lysis of a sample includes one or more walls forming an enclosed chamber having an inlet and a plurality of fluid connections. A first fluid network is coupled to at least one of the plurality of fluid connections and a second fluid network is coupled to at least one of the plurality of fluid connections. The system further includes a rotary element 136 within the chamber and an actuator 202 for rotating the rotary element. The first fluid network introduces at least a sample from at least one of first reservoirs into the chamber. The second fluid network expels at least the sample from the chamber to at least one of second reservoirs. The rotary element is rotated by the actuator about an axis extending along a length of the rotary element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
