A fluorescent endoscope apparatus 1 includes: an illumination unit 3 irradiating a subject A with excitation light and illumination light; a fluorescent imaging unit 18 photographing fluorescence generated in the subject A by the irradiation with the excitation light from the illumination unit 3 and acquiring a fluorescent image; a storage unit storing the acquired fluorescent image; a returning light imaging unit 18 photographing the returning light returning from the subject A by the irradiation with the illumination light from the illumination unit 3 and acquiring a returning light image; an image information extraction unit extracting, from the acquired returning light image, image information representing the intensity of the illumination light with which the subject A is irradiated; an integrated image number setting unit setting, on the basis of the extracted image information, the number of images to be integrated so as to be lower for higher illumination light intensities; and an averaged image generating unit generating an averaged image by averaging the set number of fluorescent images to be integrated, which are stored in the storage unit.
