To provide a fluorescent lamp in which abnormal overheating of a discharge tube or a base is suppressed at the time of lifetime end stage and, further, manufacture of the base and installation of a temperature fuse can be simplified by making the structure of the base simple, and furthermore, the damages of the temperature fuse can be prevented as much as possible at the time of installation of the temperature fuse.
Since one side in longitudinal direction of the temperature fuse 16 has a better heat sensitivity as compared with the other side, the temperature fuses 16 are placed adjoined at both end parts of the fluorescent lamp main body 1 and placed mutually in reverse direction. Thereby, when any of electrodes 3, 3 has come to the lifetime end stage, and the end portion of the lamp is heated, any of the temperature fuses senses this heat generation and is activated.
