To provide a fluorescent lamp which effectively facilitates preventing cover glass from shattering.

The fluorescent lamp 10 is structured of a base 11 capable of connecting with a socket, a case 12 having a built-in stabilizer 13 joined with an upper part of the base 11, a fluorescent light-emitting tube 14 connected with the stabilizer 13 and lighting up with supply of voltage from the stabilizer 13, a glass globe 15 joined with the case 12 so as to cover the fluorescent light-emitting tube 14, and a cover 16 formed in a bag shape and having elasticity and covering the surface of the glass globe 15 with contractile force. The cover 16 is formed of a top section formed in an approximately hemispherical shape, and a cylindrical section formed in a cylinder shape. An opening is formed at a lower part of the cylindrical section, and the diameter of the opening is formed smaller than a diameter at the lowest end of an exposed section of the globe.
