To provide a simple and low-cost fluorescent lamp lighting device capable of preventing appearance degradation by contact between lead wires.

This fluorescent lamp 100 is provided with: an arc tube 14 having filament electrodes 14a and 14b; and a choke coil 11 for preheating the filament electrodes 14a and 14b by carrying a current supplied to a primary winding 111 through FETs 5 and 6 being switching elements to the filament electrodes 14a and 14b through magnetically-coupled preheating secondary windings 122 and 123. The primary winding 111 and the preheating secondary winding 122, and the primary winding 111 and the preheating secondary winding 123 are respectively arranged within an extremely close range, and the wire diameter of the preheating secondary winding is not greater than 0.14 mm.
