To provide a fluorescent lamp having a base pin capable of being caulked to connect a lead wire from a filament with a connection wire of a protection element for an electrode part abnormal temperature rise prevention protection.
The fluorescent lamp has a cylindrical base pin 22 into which at least a lead wire 32 and a connection wire 34a of a protection element can be inserted. The lead wire 32 and the connection wire 34a of the protection element are inserted into the cylindrical base pin 22. The portion where the lead wire 32 of the base pin 22 and the connection wire 34a of the protection element are inserted is pressed from outside to be deformed, so that the lead wire 32, the connection wire 34a and the inner wall surface of the bas pin 22 are brought into pressure contact. Thus, the connection wire 34a of the protection element contacts with the lead wire 32 and the inner wall surface of the base pin 22 firmly to be electrically connected to them. Generation of heat due to resistance of the contact portion of the lead wire 32 and the connection wire 34a of the protection element is prevented, so that melting and breakage can be prevented even when temperature of the connection portion rises.
