Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fluorinated (meth)acrylic latex which has a film-forming capability and forms a hydrophobic coating film by association at about room temp. without requiring an excess associating agent, and to obtain a novel latex which can form a coating film maintaining resistance to water wetting and wet abrasion resistance even when the content of a fluoromonomer is greatly reduced.
SOLUTION: The fluorinated (meth)acrylic latex is a particle dispersion or a mixed particle dispersion obtd. by the emulsion polymn. in an aq. medium using a fluoromonomer represented by the formula (wherein R1 is H or methyl; R2 is 1-10C perfluoroalkyl; and 0<n≤4) alone as the particle-forming fluorinated comonomer. The comonomer accounts for 80 wt.% or lower of the shells of fluorocopolymer particles and accouts for 1.8-20 wt.% of the total amt. of monomers.
