To provide a high-purity fluorinated alkyl group-containing diol having the fluorinated alkyl group in a pendant state and two primary hydroxy groups, to provide a method for producing the same and to further provide a new polyurethane resin having one fluorinated alkyl group each uniformly introduced in the pendant state into the side chain, respectively by carrying out a polyaddition reaction with a polyisocyanate.
The fluorinated alkyl group-containing pendant type diol is represented by general formula (1) {wherein, R1 represents a 1-36C fluorinated alkyl group; R2 represents a group selected from a 2-9C alkylene group and a dialkylene ether group; and R3 represents a -CO-NH-R4-NH-CO- (wherein, R4 is a 4-18C diisocyanate residue) or the like}. A method for producing the diol, the polyurethane resin and a method for producing the polyurethane resin are provided.
