Abstract:
To provide a new component for a nematic, cholesteric or chiral smectic liquid crystal mixture having high absolute dielectric anisotropy and desirable viscosity ratio and transparency.
The invention relates to a compound expressed by formula (I) (L1 to L5 are each H or F provided that at least one of L1 to L5 is F; R1 is a 1-16C alkyl or the like; and R2 is H, F, CN, OCF3 or the like), a liquid crystal mixture containing the compound and the use of the liquid crystal mixture for a liquid crystal display.
