Abstract:
To provide lubricating compositions.SOLUTION: There is disclosed an antifoam component for a mechanical device which includes a fluorinated poly(acrylate) copolymer. The antifoam component has improved foam performance and thermal stability in finished fluids, such as driveline fluids. The disclosed technology provides a lubricating composition including: (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity selected from a group consisting of a Group III oil, a Group IV oil, a Group V oil and mixtures thereof; and b) an antifoam component comprising a poly(acrylate) copolymer including (i) from about 70 wt.% up to about 85 wt.% of an acrylate monomer having C4 to C8 alkyl esters of acrylic acid, (ii) from about 10 wt.% up to about 28 wt.% of an acrylate comonomer having C2 to C3 alkyl esters of acrylic acid, and (iii) from about 1.5 wt.% up to 15.0 wt.% of a fluorinated acrylate monomer, where the antifoam component has Mw of at least 45000 Daltons.SELECTED DRAWING: None
