Abstract:
To provide a polyelectrolyte and polyelectrolyte membrane useful as a constituent material for solid polymer-type fuel cells, direct liquid-type fuel cells and direct methanol-type fuel cells and excellent in proton conductivity, methanol-blocking tendency and chemical stability.
The fluorinated polyelectrolyte comprises proton-conductive functional groups and at least two polymeric compounds, wherein at least one of the polymeric compounds is an aromatic one in which at least part of atoms in the aromatic units are substituted with fluorine atoms. The fluorinated polyelectrolyte membrane using the fluorinated polyelectrolyte is provided.
