To obtain the subject composition having excellent heat resistance, low dielectric, low water absorption, high refractive index and excellent light transmission by making the composition include fluorinated titanium dioxide.
This composition comprises preferably 0.1-80 wt.% of fluorinated titanium dioxide. A resin comprising a repeating unit of the formula, etc., may be cited as a preferable example of the fluorinated polyimide resin. The resin is generally obtained by subjecting a fluorinated polyamic acid resin prepared from 2,2'-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane and 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl to a ring closure reaction. The fluorinated titanium dioxide is obtained, for example, by a method for treating titanium oxide particles with a fluorine gas. The objective composition is preferably obtained by adding the fluorinated titanium dioxide to the fluorinated polyamic acid resin produced in the presence of an organic solvent and heating the fluorinated polyamic acid resin varnish.
