Abstract:

To provide a fluorine-containing copolymer which gives a coated film having improved bending resistance while maintaining solvent resistance.

The fluorine-containing copolymer includes (a) ≥20 and ≤49 mol% tetrafluoroethylene structural unit, (b) ≥25 and ≤69.9 mol% non-aromatic vinyl ester monomer structural unit including neither a hydroxyl group nor a carboxyl group, (c) ≥10.5 and <15 mol% hydroxyl group-containing vinyl monomer structural unit, (d) ≥2 and ≤15 mol% aromatic group-containing monomer structural unit including neither a hydroxyl group nor a carboxyl group, (e) ≥0.1 and ≤2.0 mol% carboxyl group-containing monomer structural unit including neither a hydroxyl group nor an aromatic group, and (f) 0 and ≤10 mol% any other monomer structural unit and has a number average molecular weight of 14,000-25,000. A coating composition includes the copolymer as a film-forming component.
