To provide a hydrogenated ring opening polymer of a fluorine-containing cyclic olefin particularly having improved heat resistance and improved solubility to a solvent without sacrificing the characteristics such as excellent light transmissivity included in a prior art hydrogenated ring opening polymer of a fluorine-containing cyclic olefin.
The hydrogenated ring opening polymer of a fluorine-containing cyclic olefin having improved heat resistance and improved solubility to a solvent is obtained by producing a ring opening polymer of a fluorine-containing cyclic olefin using a new fluorine-containing cyclic olefin compound having a specific structure (for example, an adduct of dicyclopentadiene and octafluorocyclopentene prepared by a Diels-Alder reaction) as a monomer, and subsequently hydrogenating the above-obtained ring opening polymer.
