PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound having a specific structure incorporated with perfluoroalkyl group, useful as an intermediate for medicines or pesticides, also for a functional monomer, cationic polymerization initiator, water/oil repellent, or coating material.
CONSTITUTION: The fluoroalkyl group-contg. derivative of formula I [R1 is alkoxy, of formula II (R3 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, etc.; n is 0-8), R4(O2)-R5-O (R4 is alkyl; R5 is alkylene), R4(O2)2CH-R5-O, HO-R5-O, HO2C-R5-O, (R4OCO)2N or cycloalkyloxy; R2 is H or methyl; (m) is 0-8], e.g. the compound of formula III. The compound of formula I can be obtained, for example, by reaction between a fluoroalkanoyl peroxide of formula IV and a vinyl group-contg. compound of the formula R1-CR2=CH2. The compound of formula I is excellent in low surface tension, low refractive index, resistances to heat, cold and oil, and in electrical insulation, water repellency, releasability, water/oil repellency, contamination proofing ability and chemical resistance, being also useful as a biomaterial, cationic polymerization initiator, etc.
