Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer for coating materials which can give a cured film being transparent to light of wavelengths in a wide range and having high strengths and high weather resistance, especially acid resistance, by copolymerizing a fluoroolefin, vinyl pivalate and allyl alcohol as essential components in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer comprising 25-75mol%, desirably 30-65mol% fluoroolefin (most suitably chlorotrifluoroethylene), 3-70mol%, desirably 5-60mol%, vinyl pivalate of the formula, 3-75mol%, desirably 5-60mol%, allyl alcohol and 0-70mol% other copolymerizable monomers and having an intrinsic viscosity (in tetrahydrofuran at 30 deg.C) of 0.3-2.0dl/g, desirably 0.05-0.5dl/g is used as a fluorocopolymer for coating materials useful for protecting concrete structures and metallic structures.
