PURPOSE: To obtain a fluoroelastomer excellent in the rate of vulcanization by copolymerizing tetrafluoroethylene with perfluoro(lower-alkyl vinyl ether) and perfluoro(allylbenzene).
CONSTITUTION: This fluoroelastomer has a copolymer composition of 50-80mol% tetrafluoroethylene (A), 20-45mol% perfluoro(lower-alkyl vinyl ether) (B) and 0.1-2mol% perfluoro(allylbenzene) (C) and an intrinsic viscosity of 0.1-2.0dl/g. By using the perfluoro(allylbenzene) as the perfluorovinyl ether of component C copolymerized with components A and B, the obtained fluoroelastomer is excellent in the rate of vulcanization. Because this elastomer is excellent in chemical resistance, heat stability, etc., it can be effectively used as a molding material for O rings, flange seals, gaskets, diaphragms of stock pumps, liners, etc.
