PURPOSE: To obtain the title copolymer giving a solvent-soluble coating film excellent in weatherability, chemical resistance, etc., by copolymerizing specific monomers as the essential ingredients to have a given weight-average mol.wt.
CONSTITUTION: The title copolymer comprises 20-70mol% structural units derived from a fluorovinyl monomer (e.g. chlorotrifluoroethylene), 1-50mol% structural units derived from a vinyl monomer containing a 2-oxo-1,3-dioxolane group (e.g. 4(1-propenyl)oxymethyl1-2-oxo-1,3-dioxolane), and 1-30mol% structural units derived from other copolymerizable vinyl monomer (e.g. 4-hyrobutyl vinyl ether), provided that the sum of the three kinds of structural units being 100mol%. It has a weight-average mol.wt. measured by gel permeation chromatography of 3,000-300,000.
