Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a fluted roller for a drafting apparatus for a spinning machine excellent in corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance and free from the necessity of paying perfect attention on the issue of safety and disposal of a treating liquid and a waste liquid on a production process.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of a fluted roller 1 made of steel is coated with film coating 5 having higher hardness than the body of the fluted roller. The film coating 5 made of high-hardness ceramics e.g. chromium nitride, titanium nitride or titanium carbide is formed by arc ion plating.
