Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flux for refining a molten steel having high desulfurization rate and detergency in treatment for spraying a flux for refining to a molten steel surface in a vacuum tank in a RH type vacuum degassing treatment device (RH) and a method for refining the molten steel using the same.SOLUTION: As a flux for refining for spraying the flux for refining to a molten steel surface in a vacuum tank at RH, flux for refining containing CaO, lanthanoid oxide (RemO) and metal Ca or Ca alloy and having mass composition ratio to total mass of each material satisfying formulae (1) to (3) is used. Because flux specific gravity is increased by addition of lanthanoid oxide, retention time in the molten steel is increased. By addition of metal Ca, conjugation of CaO and lanthanoid oxide is promoted. The formula (1) is 50≤(%CaO)≤90, the formula (2) is 5≤(%RemO)≤30, and the formula (3) is 5≤(%Ca)≤15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
