Title:
FLUX FOR TREATING MOLTEN AL OR AL ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3473080
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently separate and remove the slag to be afloat in the Al refining process by composing the flux of three components system of metallic sulfate, metallic carbonate and oxide, or of four components system with metallic nitrate to be added.
CONSTITUTION: The flux for treating the molten Al or Al alloy is composed of the mixture consisting of metallic sulfate, metallic carbonate and oxide, or the mixture consisting of metallic sulfate, metallic carbonate, oxide and metallic nitrate. The flux is preferably composed of, by weight, 30-60% metallic sulfate, 5-30% metallic carbonate, 15-35% oxide, and 0-10% metallic nitrate. The metallic sulfate is one or more kinds to be selected from K2SO4, MgSO4, and Na2SO4. The metallic carbonate to be used is MgCO3, CaCO3, Na2CO3, K2B2O2. The metallic nitrate is one or more kinds to be selected from CO3. The oxide to be used is Al2O3 an/or KNO. This flux contains no halogen, and no toxious gas is generated therefrom, and is excellent in the ignitability and the exothermic reactivity.
