Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce distortion and raise the distortion power factor in flyback and buck-boost converters.SOLUTION: A device 1 for adjusting the control signal generated by a controller 2 for controlling a switch 3 of a flyback converter 21 increases/decreases the duration of the conduction time of the switch 3 in response to the increase/decrease of the amplitude of the voltage signal from the voltage source 4 feeding the converter. In this way undesirable losses in the grid and power generator are avoided. The converter is a relatively inexpensive single stage converter. Preferably, the time period is substantially proportional to the amplitude of the voltage signal and the sum of the design parameters. These design parameters may include the amplitude of other voltage signals such as the output voltage. The device 1 is provided for the controller 2 in which the duration of the conduction time can only be fixedly generated and for the controller 2 in which the duration of the conduction time can be adjustably generated via an adjustable external element.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
