To obtain a foamable resin composition having suppressed primary foaming and thickening, etc., in an extruder in the extrusion molding of the foamable resin composition containing a polyolefin resin and a thermally decomposable foaming agent and to provide a method for the production of a foamed article by using the composition.

This foamable polyolefin resin composition contains a polyolefin resin, a thermally decomposable foaming agent and a comb-like polymer having a number-average molecular weight of 1,000-50,000 and a hydroxyl value of 50-150. A foamed article of a polyolefin resin can be produced by extruding the foamable resin composition with an extruder to a prescribed form and subjecting the obtained foamable article to thermal foaming treatment.
