To obtain a PVC composition having remarkably high elastic modulus, tensile strength and tear strength and small specific gravity, exhibiting excellent melt-adhesion strength to artificial leather and useful as a shoe material by using a PVC base material modified with a specific modifying agent.
This PVC composition contains (A) a PVC base material, (B) a plasticizer and other additives and (C) 10-90 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A) of one or more modifying agents for the component A selected from (i) rubbers, (ii) thermoplastic urethane compounds and (iii) ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers. The component A is modified with the component C. Preferably, the component A is a suspension/emulsion polymerization mixture at a ratio of 99.5:0.5 to 0.5:99.5 and the component (i) is a butadiene rubber, a styrene-butadiene rubber, an acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, an isoprene rubber, natural rubber or a mixture of two or more of the rubbers.
