To obtain a foaming retarder excellent in preservation stability and useful for a powdery cleanser composition, etc., by including a silicone defoaming agent adsorbed on particles of a solid carrier forming a basic pH when being brought into contact with water, and an alkylsaccharide.
This foaming retarder comprises a granular foaming retarder including (A) solid carrier particles forming a basic pH when being brought into contact with water such as calcium carbonate and sodium tripolyphosphate and (B) a silicone defoaming agent such as a compound of formula I [R is a 1-8C monovalent hydrocarbon; R1 is R, hydroxyl, etc.; Y is R or hydroxyl; R3 is a 9-35C alkyl; (a), (b) and (d) are each 0 or an integer] adsorbed on the solid carrier particles and further includes (C) an alkylsaccharide such as a compound of formula II [R8 is an 8-20C alkyl; (n) is 1-3]. A powdery cleanser composition is preferably prepared by including 0.01-20 pts.wt. silicone defoaming agent in 100 pts.wt. cleanser component.
