To obtain a foaming type fire retardant composition that has fire retardation effect on combustibles, inhibits smoke, gas and the like from flowing outside and can readily give formed products, for example, sheets by using a saturated hydrocarbon polymer having a prescribed value or higher of viscosity average molecular weight and a polyphosphate salt compound.
This foaming type fire retardant composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. of a saturated hydrocarbon polymer with viscosity average molecular weight of ≥50,000, including ≥50 wt.% of recurring units originating from isobutylene, (B) a polyphosphate salt, for example, ammonium polyphosphate, preferably in an amount of 10-200 pts.wt., in addition, preferably (C) a polyhydric alcohol, for example, tripentaerythritol, preferably in an amount of 10-100 pts.wt., (D) an amino group-bearing compound, for example, dicyandiamide, preferably in an amount of 5-50 pts.wt. and (E) an inorganic filler, for example, calcium carbonate, preferably in an amount of 5-500 pts.wt.
