To provide a focal plane shutter which is switchable between NOP and NCL systems and allows a shooting interval to be shorter than conventional one, and a camera including the same.
The focal plane shutter includes: front blade driving means 8 and 9 which are switchable between NOP and NCL systems and, in the NOP system, retreat a front blade from an exposure aperture with a set member 15 in a set position and make the front blade cover the exposure aperture during operation for return to an initial position and, in the NCL system, make the front blade cover the exposure aperture until the set member is returned from the set position to the initial position and exposure operation starts; a first driving member 11 for rear blade, which is locked by a locking member 17 during set operation to make the rear blade cover the exposure aperture and is unlocked from the locking member immediately before arrival at the set position to retreat the rear blade from the exposure aperture; and a second driving member 12 for rear blade, which is rotated in a set direction by the set operation and rotates the first driving member for rear blade in an exposure operation direction during exposure operation to make the rear blade cover the exposure aperture.
