The focal plane shutter includes: a rectangular bottom plate 117; a first shutter blade 111 arranged on one end side in a long side direction of the bottom plate 117 and movable in the long side direction between a totally opening position and a totally shutting position of an aperture 117a; a second shutter blade 112 arranged on the other end side in the long side direction of the bottom plate 117 and movable in the long side direction between the totally opening position and the totally shutting position of the aperture 117a; a first driving motor 113 arranged on one end side in the long side direction of the bottom plate 117, to drive the first shutter blade 111; and a second driving motor 114 arranged on the other end side in the long side direction of the bottom plate 117, to drive the second shutter blade 112. The first driving motor 113 and the second driving motor 114 are constituted to drive the first shutter blade 111 and the second shutter blade 112 so that a slit having a fixed space may be formed between the first shutter blade 111 and the second shutter blade 112.
