Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus adjustment device and focus adjustment method that can reduce power consumption without providing separate detection members in detecting a rotation state of a ring member.SOLUTION: A focus adjustment device is configured to validate a part of a plurality of signals of a signal generation unit in a state where an operation of a ring member stands by (S59); count the number of changes in partial validate signal output by the signal generation unit (S61); make transition to an operation detection state of the ring member when the number of counts exceeds a prescribed threshold (S65:Yes, S67 and S71); and when making transition to the operation detection state, detect an amount of rotation of the ring member and rotation direction thereof on the basis of the plurality of signals different in phase output by the signal generation unit; and control movement of a focus adjustment lens in accordance with the detected amount of rotation and rotation direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
