Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a focus variable optical device having a wide focal distance variable range. CONSTITUTION:The focus variable optical device is provided with two electric address type spatial optical modulators 10 and 11 being spatial optical modulation means and an optical lens 12, and the optical modulators 10 and 11 are constituted of phase modulation type liquid crystal panel. Furthermore, the focus variable optical device is provided with a controller 13, and the optical modulators 10 and 11 are coupled with the controller 13 through a connection line 14, respectively. The 1st and the 2nd optical modulators 10 and 11 and the optical lens 12 are arranged in series along an optical axis direction. The respective picture elements of the optical modulators 10 and 11 are formed in a concentric circle state, and the center of the exiting surface of the picture element of the 1st optical modulator 10 and the center of the incident surface of the picture element of the 2nd optical modulator 11 are arranged to be deviated in a radial direction by the half of the pitch of the picture element.
