Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce a switching frequency between a stoichometric range and a lean range when an air fuel ratio is switched and controlled between the stoichiometric range and the lean range, and set the air fuel ratio in the intermediate condition between both ranges so as to prevent deterioration of emission characteristic.
CONSTITUTION: A stoich flag is referred in step 11, and a first map in which the ratio of a stoichi-range is small is retrieved in step 12 so as to judge whether the stoich-range or the lean range exits when the flag is in a lean range at present. On the other hand, when the flag is in the stoich-range at present, a second map in which the ratio of the lean range is small is retrieved in step 13 so as to judge whether the stoichi-range or the lean rang exists. It is thus possible to reduce the switching frequency between the stoichi-range and the lean range.
